Saugus Iron Work

Saugus Iron Work
Primera herrería exitosa de América del Norte colonial.

Fue establecida en 1646 en Saugus, Mass., justo al norte de Boston, por Robert Bridges y Joseph Jenks, después de que se descubrieran allí grandes depósitos de hierro de los pantanos. Fundía principalmente utensilios y laminaba y cortaba alambrón para hacer clavos para los colonos. Cerró 1688. Partes de la planta han sido restauradas como lugar histórico nacional.
